Giveaway!

Good morning Modern Quilters Ireland!  The weather has turned decidedly frosty and in an effort to combat the January blues we are having a giveaway to members on the blog today.   Whether you are on a fabric diet or  happily spending in the January sales you may want to have a look at our prize.

Last year we had a very successful sew in day in Galway and had some fabulous prizes donated to make our day extra special.  We have some still on hand and have been given extras so thank you to Fluffy Sheep Quilting, Lisnaweary Quilts, Pilot pens, The Crafters Basket, Vibes and Scribes and Liz's Longarm service for our prizes today.

We have 4 identical prizes made up of issue 10 of Love Patchwork & Quilting, Frixion pen, Charm square packs, a Fat Quarter of quilting cotton fabric and vouchers to be won.  To enter please leave a comment on the blog answering this simple question.

What is your most favourite, must have,  cannot make a quilt without it, notion or sewing tool?
(And it can't be your sewing machine!  Tell us what should be on the top of our shopping list for the January sales.)

The giveaway will close on Friday at 12 noon and Random number generator will choose 4 winners.

  1. I think I am really attached to my cutting kit (rotary cutter, rulers and mat), they're the essential.

  2. Hi fellow quilters! I absolutely love my "Perfect Half-Square and Quarter-Square Triangles" ruler. It has slits at half inch intervals and you can make your squares from 1 1/2 inches to 6 1/2 inches. It is essential for my favorite block - pinwheels! I have a new pinwheel pattern that I'm going to try, I'll keep you posted.

  3. I do not have a special tool I want to buy but if I would get a present I take the clips. Think they might be quite handy and better than pins which usually get stuck either in my jumper or my hand :D

  4. In the last few quilts I've worked on, my rotating cutting mat have been essential! I did a disappearing 4-patch, and wouldn't have been able to do such a good job without it! I have the Olfa 17" rotating mat--worth every penny!

  5. My favourite tool combo I could never manage without is my large cutting mat and 24" ruler. This combination makes tackling quilts and binding cutting etc much more manageable and exact. Happy quilting & creating for 2015 to you all !!

  10. Next to the obvious cutting mat and ruler, I am afraid my most needed item is the seam ripper... But I really can't live/ quilt anymore without water soluble pencils. I absolutely love them and you them all the time

  11. My current favourite is my little Seam Away tool. You use it after you have used your seam ripper and all those dodgy little bits of thread need to be tidied up or pulled away from the fabric so you can resew. It makes very quick work of the job!
(also love NEW olfa blades for my rotary cutter)!
